stalls for a wine festival September 2007
“Kouritos festival” is the annual wine festival that takes place in Rodolivos, a village closely related to wine production. Every September, wineries from all over north Greece present there their products. Because of the popularity gained and the increased demand for space, village’s council decided to ask for an architectural solution regarding the presentation stalls. Until then, random constructions had been made each time which were destroyed after the end of the festival due to lack of storage space. The stalls had to be cheap constructions, light at weight, and also they ought to have a structure that can easily and fast put together, taken apart and be stored.
The proposed simple design that was finally the one that was realized, was a sectional post and beam steel structure with bracing. It is easy to put apart, carry and store and also will be usable for a long time without needing maintenance. Colored cloth separates the different stalls that have a linear arrangement in order to enhance pedestrian circulation along the square. A position of each winery's brand, as well as lighting was also taken under consideration in the design.
